Alexandria, La., (March 15, 2019) — A house fire today resulted in the death of one person, according to Alexandria Fire Chief Larry King. The City of Alexandria Fire Department responded at 3:58 a.m. to 2103 Harris St. AFD fire investigators have determined that the fire started in the bedroom. “This was a tragic event,” said Chief King. “It is important that people remember not to leave candles or cigarettes burning or heaters unattended in their homes. Alexandria, La., (Feb. 5, 2019) — The City of Alexandria is urging passengers using city transit services to be cautious around traffic following an accident Monday night. There will be a brief period of time after midnight and before 6 a.m. where the rain will change over to a mix of rain/snow or all snow, according to the National Weather Service.The NWS has advised that Rapides Parish could see up to one-inch accumulation of snow on mainly elevated surfaces, which may make driving conditions hazardous.
