The Alexandria Police Department (APD) made two arrest this week in two separate incidents for Illegal Possession of Firearms. On Wednesday, May 24, 2023, the Alexandria Police Department conducted an investigation into a report of an illegal firearm. During the course of the investigation, officers located Shaheem M. White, a convicted felon, in possession of an illegal firearm. At approximately 12:08 PM, the Alexandria Fire Department was dispatched to the 1800 Block of Mason Street, in reference to a fully involved building fire. The first unit arrived on the scene within two minutes of the initial alarm time. A full complement of units were on scene within six minutes. AFD dispatched three engine companies, an aerial company, two medical units, one district chiefs, and an investigative unit. Alexandria, LA (05/15/2023)On Monday, May 15, 2023, a report was filed with the Alexandria Police Department in regard to an incident that occurred on Saturday, May 13, 2023, in the Bocage Subdivision. A resident said that her dog got out of her fenced yard and when it returned, she noticed it was injured from possibly being shot with a BB gun. The resident took the dog to a local vet where it expired. (Alexandria, Louisiana) UPDATE – On May 16, 2023, at 12:19 A.M., Alexandria Police Department patrol officers responded to 3205 MacArthur Drive, Academy Sporting Goods. Upon arrival, officers located glass breakage indicating forced entry. (Alexandria, Louisiana) On Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 12:40 A.M. the Alexandria Police Department responded to a call for service to assist Acadian Ambulance with a deceased person at Dallas Avenue and Cypress Street. Upon investigation the body of a thirty-year-old white male was identified. There were no apparent signs of foul play and an autopsy is pending. Alexandria, LA (05/11/2023) On Thursday, May 11, 2023,the Alexandria Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit made several arrests that included the arrest of 28-year-old Dontay Ross of Alexandria LA. Ross was charged with Resisting an Officer, Possession of CDS I (Marijuana) with intent, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Firearms with Drugs, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number. Alexandria, LA (05/13/2023) On Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 02:10 A.M. the Alexandria Police Department was dispatched to 1303 Windsor Street, Bayview Yacht Club in reference to several gunshots being fired. When officers arrived, it was learned that a 17-year-old victim had been hit by the gunfire and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The victim was treated at a local hospital.
