City of Alexandria Civil Service Department and Public Works Division participated in the annual Workplace Experience Exchange(WEE) Cam
Today, the Civil Service Department and Public Works Division participated in the annual Workplace Experience Exchange(WEE) Camp for 25 elementary teachers. The purpose was to provide an educational experience for the teachers through presentations and hands-on activities, including a tour to identify various occupations within the City.
Teachers were given resources on the skills needed to teach students about specific professions in the Motor Pool and Transit Department. They were also informed about the services each department provides to the citizens.
Additionally, the teachers learned about the hiring process and how to secure a job at the City of Alexandria.
The information was presented to the teachers by Director of Civil Service, Millie Price; Kenna Lavalais, Manager of Transit; Robert Leisten, Superintendent of Motor Pool; and Donta Howard, Assistant Director of Public Works.
This is the first time the City has participated in this event, which is sponsored by the Orchard Foundation and coordinated by Teresa Spruill, the WEE Camp Coordinator.
