Soldiers assigned to the U.S. Army Shreveport Recruiting Company gathered at Alexandria City Hall on Wednesday, June 11th to honor the Army’s 250th birthday. Today, the Civil Service Department and Public Works Division participated in the annual Workplace Experience Exchange(WEE) Camp for 25 elementary teachers. The purpose was to provide an educational experience for the teachers through presentations and hands-on activities, including a tour to identify various occupations within the City.Teachers were given resources on the skills needed to teach students about specific professions in the Motor Pool and Transit Department. The Alexandria Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 4200 block of Pecan Drive. At approximately 3:29 AM today, the Alexandria Fire Department (AFD) and Rapides Fire District #2 were dispatched to a structure fire located at 4207 Pecan Drive. In response to the fire, AFD deployed four engine companies, two district chief units, and two fire investigators to the scene. On Saturday, March 8, 2025, at approximately 6:04 PM, the Alexandria Police Department responded to the 200 block of Mary Street in reference to a shooting. One person was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. This is currently an ongoing investigation. At approximately 12:58 PM, the Alexandria Fire Department was dispatched to 1400 Jackson Street in response to a building fire.
