Air National Guard Band of the Southwest’s Flight Plan Jazz Ensemble
The Arts Council of Central Louisiana is proud to present the Air National Guard Band of the Southwest’s jazz ensemble, Flight Plan. Flight Plan is the squadron’s dynamic “little big band.” This sleek, vibrant jazz ensemble presents exciting, uplifting music inspiring audiences to increased patriotism. The group also shares stirring accounts of the bravery and self-sacrifice of our expeditionary Airmen serving around the globe. From formal performances in grand auditoriums to casual concerts in the park, Flight Plan is in constant demand.
Love and Laughter
The Red River Chorale is a select choral ensemble completing their fourteenth year of performing in Central Louisiana. "Love and Laughter" is the final concert of the 2018-19 season. The concert begins in the church with selections both serious and silly. The event continues in the parish hall with a "cabaret"--refreshments, wine, and lighthearted performances by individual Chorale members. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students. Tiempo Libre – Arts Council of Central Louisiana
Three-time Grammy-nominated Afro-Caribbean music group Tiempo Libre is one of the hottest Latin bands today. Equally at home in concert halls, jazz clubs, festival stages, and dance venues, Tiempo Libre is celebrated for its sophisticated tropical music featuring an irresistible, exhilarating mix of jazz harmonies, contemporary sonorities and seductive Latin rhythms.
JAZZ ON THE RIVER 2019
For 23 years, Arna Bontemps African American Museum & Cultural Arts Center (ABAAM) has presented and created cultural programs to bring enrichment, education and entertainment for the literary, performing and visual arts to youth, children, and adult audiences. Each year, ABAAM has presented a free outdoor concert suitable for families of all ages. Attendees come from all over the State of Louisiana and neighboring Mississippi and Texas to experience this dynamic cultural event.
"Inspired by Liturgy"
When was the last time you heard master composers like Hassler, Mozart, Bruckner, Schubert, Faure', and Rutter on the same program?!? On Tuesday evening, March 12, 2019, the Red River Chorale, will present a concert featuring these musicians--and more. Most early composers were inspired to write liturgical works, including music for the service of the mass. "Inspired by Liturgy" will present all of the components of the sung mass, with each movement chosen from the great work of a different major composer.
Rapides Symphony Orchestra Concert "Rare But Well Done"
Join Rapides Symphony Orchestra for an afternoon of rare and beautiful music at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in downtown Alexandria. Cenla's own professional orchestra will perform music by Mendelssohn, Mozart, Poulenc, and Wagner.

Red River Chorale Christmas Concert: "Lessons and Love"
"Lessons and Love" is the annual concert of sacred Christmas music presented by the Red River Chorale, the area's only adult auditioned chorus. Within the format of the English service of Lessons and Carols, the Chorale will perform over twenty beautiful sacred selections, accompanied by the cathedral's magnificent pipe organ and a string ensemble. The beautiful sanctuary of the cathedral will be enveloped in growing candlelight, leading to a stunning conclusion of light and song.
