No previous firefighting experience is required for new firefighter candidates. AFD provides paid training to prepare recruits for a career serving Alexandria.
Starting pay: $40,000

Minimum Requirements:
Applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Meet Civil Service testing requirements
- Meet medical and physical ability requirements
