Annual Salary: $33,238.40 Grade: 20 (Employees: Refer to Civil Service Rule VI.3.1 and VI.17 for promotional rate) Appointment to a position in the classified service shall be at the minimum of the corresponding pay range unless otherwise approved.

Examination is announced to establish an employment list to fill vacancies in the Electric Production Department and future vacancies as they occur.
Kind of Work
The purpose of this classification is to perform inspection, maintenance and repair of utility/industrial plant operating equipment, including large stationary internal combustion engines, assorted machinery, pumps, meters, electrical breakers, air compressors, and other plant equipment, and are subject to 24-hour call.
High School diploma or GED; supplemented by prior working experience in the maintenance, repair, and installation of industrial/utility plant equipment; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Class II Water Production certification is desired for positions in the Water Department.
Wastewater Collection Class II certification is desired for positions in Wastewater Treatment.
Experience with large engines such as Wartsila, END’s, Vasas strongly preferred.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a valid driver’s license. Required to obtain a valid State of Louisiana driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain throughout employment for this classification.
Positions in the Wastewater Department must obtain and maintain a valid State of Louisiana Class D driver’s license within 60 days and may be required to obtain and maintain a valid State of Louisiana Class A or B commercial driver’s license.

This examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, a performance test or any combination thereof deemed necessary to adequately screen and rank applicants. Examination notices will be sent out via email with a testing date, time, and location. Applicants must supply complete and accurate information concerning their previous training and experience including a detailed description of their work experience, the names and addresses of all previous employers and the dates of employment.
