Growing up as an African American in north Louisiana during the 1930s and 1940s, Sarah Albritton has expressed her experiences through various creative pursuits as a self-trained visual artist, writer, poet, cook, storyteller and restaurant owner. Most of her works are situated in a bird’s-eye view of the rural Louisiana landscape, confronting the past with blunt reality.
