WHITE GOODS PICKUP |

TO ALL RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF ALEXANDRIA - BEGINNING MAY 19, 2004, RESIDENTS THAT HAVE WHITE GOODS (STOVES, WASHERS, DRYERS, REFRIGERATORS, WATER HEATERS, DISH WASHERS AND AIR CONDITIONERS) TO BE PICKED UP MUST CALL THE SANITATION DEPARTMENT. YOU MUST GIVE THE NAME, ADDRESS, AND PHONE NUMBER OF THE PERSON MAKING THE REQUEST. ALSO THESE OBJECTS ARE TO BE PLACED ON THE CURBSIDE IN FRONT OF THE RESIDENCE. WHITE GOODS WILL BE PICKED UP EVERY 3RD WEDNESDAY OF EACH MONTH.
IF YOUR WHITE GOODS ARE NOT SEPARATED FROM YOUR LIMBS AND OTHER DEBRIS IT WILL BE LEFT ON THE CURBSIDE.

RECEPTACLES |

THE SANITATION DEPARTMENT IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY RECEPTACLES THAT RESIDENTS USE TO PLACE THEIR GARBAGE BAGS IN.
The City ordinance states that your garbage should be disposed of in a garbage bag and placed on the curbside for 7:00 a.m. on the day of pickup only. You can be issued a citation if garbage is placed on the curbside on an unscheduled pick up day.
If you have a problem with dogs, cats or any other animals tearing your garbage bags, please contact the Animal Shelter at 473-1229. |

BEGINNING JULY 31, 2006, WE WILL WORK BY COUNCILMEN DISTRICTS THROUGHOUT THE CITY. THIS IS AN ENTIRELY NEW SYSTEM SO WE ARE ASKING THE GENERAL PUBLIC TO BE PATIENT WITH US FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE CONTACT US AT THE SANITATION DEPARTMENT. |

The Sanitation Department will be closed Monday, September 6, 2010, in observance of LABOR DAY. The garbage pick up schedule will be as follows:
MONDAY, 09/06/10 – HOLIDAY, NO PICKUP;
TUESDAY, 09/07/10 – Monday’s Garbage Will Be Picked Up;
WEDNESDAY, 09/08/10 – Tuesday’s Garbage Will Be Picked Up;
THURSDAY, 09/09/10 – Regular Pick Up; and FRIDAY, 09/10/10 – Regular Pick Up.

| Function Description |
| The Sanitation Department is responsible for the collection
of refuse (garbage) and class 3 debris (limbs and bulky items)
for the city residents and some commercial customers and delivery
to the dump site. Refuse (garbage) is collected from each
customer twice a week. However, holidays will change the days
of the twice a week pick-up. The department is not responsible
for any garbage cans and containers that residents use to
dispose of their garbage. Garbage should be in a plastic garbage
bag secured with a twist tie.
On each Wednesday small piles of trash, bundle, bagged yard
debris/bagged leaves will be picked up except for the weeks with holidays.
Limbs and bulky waste (sofas, chairs, etc.) are to be picked up as scheduled by the Sanitation Department. Schedules
subject to vary due to repairs to equipment, downtime at dump
site or inclement weather.
Concrete and dead
animal pickup is not provided by the City of Alexandria Sanitation Department.

all streets of garbage and trash. Garbage will be picked up in the alleyways
on some routes. To offer the City of Alexandria residents the best service at a minimum cost.
To attain a better pick-up and disposal system and a better recording system
of daily operating and maintenance procedures. |
