Tipitina's Music Office Co-Op
Your Co-Op is a do-it yourself business incubator designed especially for musicians and other digital media professionals.
The Co-Op provides tools, training, and a guiding hand towards the goal of helping musicians establish their businesses and create their own success stories. In other cities, members report an average 28% increase in their music-related income as a result of participating in the Co-Op.
The Co-Op provides fully-equipped work spaces for anyone who works in digital media. For those who cannot afford or do not otherwise have access to such resources, we provide:
- Fast computers with Windows XP Professional, High-Speed Internet connections, laser printers and scanners, and fax machine.
- Page layout and web design tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, inDesign, Macromedia Dreamweaver and Flash.
- Music Productivity software like Sony Acid Pro, Sony Soundforge, Native Instruments Reaktor, Propellerheads Reason, and Protools LE.
- A clean, well-lit, ergonomic work space.
- Tutorials on basic computer skills: work processing, spreadsheets, page layout, web design, and press kit creation.
- On-sight technical support, volunteer music production assistance, and access to a network of other musicians/music business professionals/venues/gig opportunities, and an ever-growing library of specialized information resources.
Your Co-op is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11am to 7pm, or by appointment.
Co-Op membership is open to all musicians and digital media professionals.
The membership fee is $10 per month, and covers roughly 10% of the Co-Op's operating costs.
The Alexandria Music Office Co-Op is a project of the Tipitina's Foundation, a
501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Co-Op is supported in part by grants from the State of Louisiana, the City of Alexandria, GAEDA, the Charles T.
Beard Foundation, the Goldring Family Foundation, and Harrah's New Orleans Casino.
The Co-Op receives additional support from Office Depot, OffBeat magazine, Universal Furniture, and Dig In with Chef Duke and Rock.

Rapides
Symphony Orchestra
Now celebrating its 40th annual concert season, the Rapides Symphony Orchestra presents a five-concert subscription series, plus a free Pops Concert at the Riverfront Amphitheater. The orchestra sponsors an annual Concerto Competition for Louisiana students in two age brackets (10-18 and 19-25), a Youth Honor Orchestra, and music education for public schools through its “Artists-in-Classrooms” program. Alexandria Music Project
Organized in 2004, AMP is a non-profit organization, the sole purpose of which is to be a catalyst for good live music in central Louisiana, primarily by hosting concerts. The current focus of AMP is on cutting edge singer/songwriters flying a little bit under the radar. AMP members receive complimentary passes to designated AMP events. Matinee Music Club
Organized in 1917, this is the oldest continuous
arts organization in Central Louisiana. This club has fostered and
nutured the development of several area arts organizations. The
club is affiliated with the Louisiana
Federation of Music Clubs and the National Federation of Music
Clubs. The mission is the "furtherance of musical interests
in the Central Louisiana area and the study of music in all its
phases to the benefit of all its members."
